In life there are times where we come face to face with a big change or challenge. Do you fight through it? Do you try to get through it? Do you give up? Or do you welcome it?
Well, I am facing both a change and a challenge. They are happening in two different portions of my life. We often get to a point where we want to give up. Take my advice, don’t do it. We are all better than that. We will be a stronger person for it.
Face the challenge, but not unprepared. Take some time and develop a plan, make a list, ask for help, anything don’t run at it and expect it to be easy, please. Look at what your challenge is, what will make it successful and who may need to help you to get the job done. When making the plan make sure you are not just doing things right, but Do the Right things.
Rejection can be difficult. We have all gone through it and sometimes it is surprising, sometimes it is expected and sometimes you just really don’t know why it happens. Well, guess what? It does. Here is what you should do when this happens:
1. Find out Honest Feedback
2. Learn from it and change yourself
3. Prove those who rejected you wrong
4. Use it as motivation
5. Try again
These are a repeatable sequence. I know it is simple, but I know individuals who don’t even get step one. I was recently rejected and I am fighting pretty hard to get the feedback I need to start the process, but I have realized that you can begin all the steps without the first, but knowing is half the battle. Maybe the person who needs to give me the true and honest feedback will meet up with me, so far there has been two missed opportunities. I am not going to give up, if there is one thing I do well, it is take initiative. Two things I need to improve. Self Motivation and accountability of others. Honestly, for me it will happen and frankly, knowing I need to improve in those areas starts the journey.
Where is yours headed? Have you opened up your chance to have success? Look at opening yourself up as an opportunity to be successful, not a risk to be rejected. Don’t be afraid of rejection, learn from it.
